Your weddingSue Rawle, editor of North Devon Brides magazine, Spring/Summer 2005 writes,"Getting the right form of entertainment is crucial if your wedding day is to go with a swing. A typical wedding party has a wide range of ages all together. The All Stars get this just right: young children love the tribal feel of the beat, and to see real musicians play their instruments. Teenagers and youngsters are now taking jazz into their collection with pop stars like Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Brian Ferry, Jamie Cullum, Nora Jones and Michael Buble giving jazz a new fan base. And of course the older generation remember the songs from their youth."
Letters To The BandDear Mr. Tucker,Just a word to say how much my wife and I enjoyed your concert on Sunday afternoon. I've been going to Jazz for nearly fifty years but this was only my wife's second experience, she having been put off by all the smoke many years ago. She now wants to go again and I credit your band with this. It was a super afternoon in every way. Many thanks and all good wishes, Andrew Liddle 28/04/10 Dear Steve and the Band, We wanted to thank you very much for playing at our Wedding last week, you were simply superb the choice of songs were perfect, all our guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening and my musician friends thought the standard of playing was outstanding, you helped make our day the most enjoyable day in our lives. Devon wedding photographers - Lime Leaf Weddings Click on image to enlarge Hello Steve, The day and night were absolutely wonderful. Ian and I both thought that our first dance song was sung amazingly - thanks so much. Best wishes Amy Essex. Wedding 08/08/09 Castle Hill Filleigh, Devon. Steve I have had many messages saying how great the band was.It was a great success, many thanks. Will you pass on the message to the players for me. We want to make it an annual event and I will let you know as soon as I get a date, hopeing you will come again. Rupert Lascelles. Hatherleigh Community Centre 26/09/09 on behalf of The Exeter Leukaemia Fund (E.L.F.) Hi Steve, Didnt want to the day go without letting you know what a great gig it was today - brightened our day and the crowd were having such fun! Line dancing to My Baby Just Cares for Me was such a great sight, jivers going for it, and people smiling and children dancing about. The organiser chappie walked back from the other side with us and as we came back to your gig I said to him about how brilliant your marketing was, the effort you make with badges for the children and the flags - he was most impressed so hope you get the return gig. You chose some swinging numbers which people knew and enjoyed and that is what is so different about your band, you engage with the audience and it makes them feel part of it all. You did Plymouth proud and also the jazz scene so keep it going and let's see you again next year! Great entertainment, and see you soon hopefully Lois and David Devon and Cornwall Jazz Diary [ you can use this if you wish] ps and thanks so much for selling all the Diaries you do and for your continued support to furthering the jazz info out there. xxx
The Barbican International Jazz And Blues Festival Plymouth 10/05/09 www.thebarbicanjazzandbluesfestival.com Dear Steve, Just a quick note to thank you and the band for playing at Langdon Court on the 21st of last month for our Wedding reception. Jo and I wanted to express our thanks and pass on the positive comments we recieved from our guests. We look forward to catching the band at some point this year at one of your gigs. We had a fantastic Wedding day and the band were simply perfect. Yours, Dr and Dr T Wilson, Exminster. Devon. Hi Steve, Many thanks for playing on the evening for the Rotary Conference. You went down very well and most of the time I was there, the dance floor was full. I will certainly recommend you to anyone wanting a good jazz band. Mick Goward Rotary International. Hi Steve, We liked all the music you played last Sunday and it was great to see other people dancing 'non-partner' style, particularly with their kids. Hope you will play more of the same. In fact, we like all your music, The Lindy Hop 'founder' Frankie Manning died the other day aged nearly 95. Derek and Jane were due to attend his 95th so they might want to do some kind of 'tribute'. They haven't mentioned it to us but they may mention it to yourself. Thanks for the complements about our dancing although a member of your band think you are a bit of a meanie for giving out a 10 then retracting to a 7!! Still, it keeps us on our toes (literally) and it's a great fun. Mark is a real slave driver (bless!) but we both agree your band make it so easy to dance to. We wished you could have gone on all afternoon so a big thanks to YOU and you band. Can't wait to get hold of you new CD and we're really looking forward to the Exeter Dance gig. All the best Sue and Mark Griffin
Click on image to enlarge Dear Steve and the band, Just a quick call to say a big thankyou for helping make our Wedding so special, your music was perfect and great to dance to. Thank you. Nicholas Gyngell JP Morgan Ltd. Hello Steve (and all your colleagues) I want to say to you all how much we enjoyed your music last Saturday evening. All the family, countless guests, and many of our neighbours who listened beyond the boundaries of our garden have told me repeatedly how good you were. Some of the residents living in the almshouses next door sat out quite late, and one man said he lay in bed listening. His only complaint was that you stopped at midnight!! So thanks again. We shall recommend you to all and sundry. You gave everyone a lot of pleasure. Best wishes Andrew and Gillian Bargery Antonia and Martin Allen (Wedding 7th June 2008) Steve, Just a short note to say thanks for a splendid evening at our wedding. Everyone was very complimentary about our choice of band and really enjoyed your music. We would also like to thank you for the special arrangement of Slow Boat To China for our first dance. Please pass on our thanks to all of your band members for providing a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We`ll keep a look out for future gigs. Best wishes, David and Jessica. (Wedding St Audries Park 2008)
Devon wedding photographers - Lime Leaf Weddings Click on image to enlarge Dear Steve, Just wanted to say, as I didn`t get the chance as you were being mobbed by other fans, that my Mother Barbara and I had an unexpectedly fabulous lunch yesterday. Unexpected as I hadn`t heard of you before and jazz can be my sort of jazz or it can be too contemporary or too trad and then I switch off. But you and the guys were brilliant - of course all the classics of my mothers era and songs that most people can relate too. We`ll come and see you again, I definately will and am checking your site for other venues in June. All the best, Jane Walker. (Fox and Hounds Country Hotel Gig 2008) To Steve and the Band, Just a brief note to thank you so much for making my retirement party so special and go with a swing! I had many compliments about the band - and felt the music was just right and suitable for all ages, proof was that everyone was on their feet dancing all night, I felt the party was everything I had imagined and more, so once again thankyou all so much. Best wishes Sue Mills North Devon District Hospital, Maternity Unit. September 2007 Dear Steve. What a day I've had today! Members have been phoning me congratulating me for booking you for our celebration. well I think the congratulations should be for you and your `boys` what a great group you are. It might please you to know that many enjoyed it so much they have asked me to try to start a ballroom dancing group and I have already made enquiries about us taking lessons together so now you see what you`ve started ! Next time we ask you to play for us you`ll think we`re a team from `Come Dancing`!! Seriously though, they all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon in spite of the terrible weather and the compliments I`ve had about your band range from `truly professional` to `fantastic` so you can`t ask for more than that can you? Many, Many thanks to you all once again for making our afternoon and celebration so special. Sylvia Wiseman (The University Of The Third Age, Taw U3A Group, Barnstaple, Devon), June 2007 Click on the image below for the band's North Devon Festival Photo Gallery!
