The Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band

From Popular Swing Jazz and Romantic Ballads to New Orleans Classics

Welcome to the Official Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band Website. The All Stars are one of the top South West function and festival traditional swing jazz bands. As befits the busy schedule of a successful working jazz and blues band, the gig list includes all kinds of bookings, from wedding receptions to garden parties, from dinner dances to corporate promotions, and summer balls to riverboat jazz cruises.

Steve launched the jazz band in North Devon (UK) nine years ago, basing the sound on the ever popular classic songs and show tunes of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. The Steve Tucker All Stars have had great popularity around Devon and have benefited from good CD airplay from the BBC in particular, whilst newspapers and magazines have generously acknowledged the band's energy, enthusiasm and performance.

The melodic, versatile voice of Steve is underpinned by the dynamic energy, passion and sensitivity of a very experienced front line combining with the powerful, driving, tight, swinging rhythm section. This Devon based jazz band will make your event a memorable success." (The North Devon Journal)

Steve has played or recorded with many top West Country jazz bands and musicians: Derek Winters (Ken Colyer & Chris Blount band), Norman Thatcher (Ken Colyer band), Alan Robinson of the Ken Colyer Trust band, jazz guitarist Tony Oreshko, Jez Huggett (Hawkwind and Band of Gold), Brian Carrick and Roy Pellett, Joy Parke (winner of the prestigious Cleo Laine award), Craig Milverton ( George Melly. Above is a picture that Steve would like to include in his website as he is very proud of Peter's achievements. It is a picture of his uncle Peter Boyce, jazz guitarist and fellow family musician. Peter played in many diverse jazz bands from Edmundo Ros, a Latin American outfit to Felix Mendelssohn, a popular Hawaiian act. He played regular gigs at the Rendezvous ballroom in Chertsey, played with the world famous Ted Heath orchestra in Hammersmith, London, and to top the list filled in as a rhythm guitarist at the Melbourne town hall in Australia backing Mr. Louis Armstrong. Peter is now residing in Australia. This picture was kindly given to us courtesy of Steve's cousin Miss Rose Boyce.
